Bernard de Combret (Non-Executive Director )
At the beginning of his career, Mr. de Combret spent ten years in senior positions at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the French Ministry of Finance (Treasury) in Paris and Washington. He then joined the Elf Aquitaine Group and served as VP of International Affairs, VP of International Supply, and CEO of the International Supply, Trading and Shipping Division. In 1993, he was appointed Executive VP for Refining, Marketing, Trading and Shipping.
In early 2000, following the merger between TotalFina and Elf, Mr. de Combret was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Total as well as CEO for Trading and Transportation and CEO for Gas and Power. Mr. de Combret retired from his position as Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Total (TotalFinaElf) in February 2002 and has since served as an international consultant in the energy and finance industries.
He has built, along the years, the trading organization of Elf / Total and, was at the early stage involved in the launching of the first global internet platform for energy futures (ICE, Atlanta) where he served as a Board member.
Mr. de Combret has served as a member of the Board of Directors for various companies including Renault V.I. (Paris), CEPSA (Madrid), Intercontinental Exchange (Atlanta), Banco Central Hispano (Madrid), Institut Français des Relations Internationales (Paris), and Maurel & Prom (Paris).
He now sits on the Board of Directors, as an independent non executive, of AXA RÉ (Paris), Winstar Resources Ltd (Calgary), Petrofac Ltd (Jersey), and Total Oil Trading SA (Geneva). He is also a member of the International Advisory Board of Banco Santander (Madrid) and of Energy City Qatar (Doha).
